So I am currently taking a CIS class to fulfill my major. I’ve been asked create a blog for the class. Instead of creating a seperate blog only for the class, I’ve decided to include it here on my personal blog. Why here…hopefully the information I find and post will help me and you as well. And simply I have enough going on in my life and enought passwords and websites to remember. I don’t need one more. Plus any additional traffic to my site is good.
For ease of navigation, I’ve created a category for “CIS 126 – Web Design”. Its right over there to the right in the Categories widget.
I’ve been blogging for about two months now. I started on blogspot.com. Last week, I took off my training wheel and I purchased my own domain name. I’ve since switched over to Wordpress. Why did I switch? I’m not completely sure yet. But I’ve read that Wordpress offers more customization and has a more professional look. As I learn more of the code, I hope I will figure it out. Right now I’m just winging it.
My design is by InfoCreek. So why did I choose this design. I liked the layout. When I started out, I noticed many blogs have columns to the left and right. This design had the blog content at the left. Since our tendency is to read from left to right, I think that your focus goes right to the blog content. I also liked that there was a clear division between each widget on the right.
Right now I’m not quite sure about the graphics. The plan is to revamp them in the near future. I’m thinking of using some vibrant color with more of a girl/whismy look. I’d classify myself as a mom blog. I would like to appeal to that market and grab their attention. But for now the old fashioned, film look will have to do.
So welcome to my blog CIS 126.
