So when it comes to my home, I’ve never been a clean freak. I’m usually a toss it in the pile, I’ll clean it up later kind of girl. Only problem was later rarely came. So I started my own personal mission to get organized.
I’ve heard that it takes 21 days to make a habit. About two months ago, I started with one small change and commited to keep up with it. I decided that each morning I would do a load of laundry before taking my shower. It helps that our 2nd bathroom is right next to the laundry room. Suddenly I wasn’t spending Sundays doing laundry and we could find whatever we wanted to wear.
So the timing of my life change if kinda funny. It goes right along with Oprah’s Clean Up You Messy House Show which I watched last week when I had the flu. It inspired me to continue on my mission and to make another change.
My next challenge – making my bed every morning. Its been a week and so far so good. The unexpected result…just by making our bed…I’m kinda inspired to keep the rest of the room clean. No piles of clothes that I tried on and decided not to wear. Kids toys come in and go right back out.
Its also rolling over into other room in our house. I spontaneously clean out drawers when I can’t find something. I put the 6 bottles on nail polish that were crowding up the medicine cabinet into the little box I have for manicures. I have the sudden urge to scrub (and I’m talking elbow grease scrubbing) the stove, the microwave, etc.
I think my hubby is wondering whats wrong with me. But he’s probably afraid to comment because he doesn’t want it to change.
Stay tuned. I’ll continue to report back on my own personal mission with organization.
